1,250 bulbs to plant!

Thanks to a grant from the Big Lottery Community Wildlife Fund, the Friends have 1,250 spring bulbs to plant in the wooded strip along the southern edge of the park.   This is part of our Wild About the Park project to create a ‘woodland fringe’ area with native plants and bulbs.
We will be planting bulbs on Saturday 12 November from 1.30pm to 3.30pm, and volunteers to help would be very welcome.  If you can help, please contact us so that we can make sure we have enough tools.
By the end of March next year, we should have up to 14,000 wildflower plug plants for our woodland fringe too!  A lot of hard work has been put in by volunteers to produce these plants from seed, and we’d also like to thank the council’s nursery staff for their help with this and for letting us use the facilities at their nurseries at Bradley to raise the plants.
