We're bowled over!

Cllr Mehboob Khan cuts the ribbon at the official opening

The Greenhead Park Bowling Club and the Friends of Greenhead Park now have their long-awaited base in the park. The new pavilion by the bowling greens was formally opened by Cllr Mehboob Khan on 29 October and both groups are thrilled with their new home.
The Friends will be showing off the new facilities at an Open Day on Saturday 24 November. Call in any time between 11am and 3pm to take a look, and find out more about the Friends and what we do. We’d like to hear people’s ideas for events and activities too – or you can just enjoy a chat and a cuppa!
Park users are also welcome to drop-in and meet members of the Friends in the new pavilion any Wednesday afternoon from 1.30pm to 3pm.

There’s still more to be done to get the pavilion fully fitted out, but volunteers from the Bowling Club have already painted the interior and will be adding tiled splashbacks to the kitchen area and WC. We have some chairs and tables on loan until we can afford our own, and are working hard to get funds for storage cupboards and built-in heaters. Fundraising has got off to a great start with a generous donation in memory of Jack Haigh, a keen bowler who had raised funds for fitting out the 1950s pavilion.
You can find some pictures of various stages in the construction of the pavilion here.
