Play Petanque in the Park

New petanque terrain – now open for use

The new petanque terrain (by the Marsh gates where the putting green used to be) is now open for use.  Anyone with their own boules is welcome to play there – or you can come to a free taster session any dry Sunday afternoon from 1pm to 5pm (or dusk).  Spare boules will be available at these sessions and there will be someone on hand to explain how to play.

If you want to learn the rules, develop your skills, play in friendly matches and social fixtures, you should think about joining the new Huddersfield Petanque Club.  The club will eventually offer regular sessions in Greenhead Park on a weekday afternoon, a weekday evening (in summer) and one afternoon at weekends where experienced players will help you learn the rules and give advice on buying boules & accessories and how to improve your game.  The club will also help local organisations and community groups run their own petanque day if they want.

The club is open to anyone from 9 to 90 years old and there will be a small annual membership fee.   If you’re interested in joining the club or would like to know more, come along to one of the taster sessions, check out the Huddersfield Petanque website or e-mail huddersfieldpetanque@outlook.com.
