Bands in the Park

As part of Kirklees Year of Music, there will be a full programme of bands in Kirklees Parks, and Greenhead Park is no exception. The programme runs from May 7 to August 28, with more than 30 free concerts across Kirklees – from brass and silver bands, to jazz, swing and blues.

The Friends of Greenhead Park have organised three concerts on the bandstand as part of this programme, and will be helping out with two more concerts in the park.

First up in Greenhead Park is Tower Brass Community Band on Sunday 14 May from 2pm to 4pm.

After that we’ve got a full afternoon of entertainment from a variety of Musica Kirklees bands & massed community and youth choirs, on Saturday 1 July from 1pm to 5pm. The event will also feature a samba session with an opportunity for audience participation! Look out for more details nearer the time. This concert will have a collection to support the work of Musica Kirklees in providing musical opportunities across Kirklees.

Then on Saturday 15 July, Linthwaite Brass Band will be taking to the bandstand from 2pm to 4pm. The final two concerts in the park are on Sunday 23 July (Honley Silver Band) and Sunday 30 July (Sundown Swing), also from 2pm to 4pm.

There’s nothing nicer than the sound of music drifting through the trees, so pack a picnic, bring a folding chair, and join family, friends and your local community for these free concerts in our beautiful park.
