Have a bowl in Greenhead Park!

Huddersfield Bowls Development are keen to encourage people of all ages to have a go at crown green bowling. This year they are offering free taster sessions run by qualified coaches – see above for times and dates. You can e-mail huddsbowls@gmail.com to pre-book a place and preferred time, or just turn up on the day. All the equipment you need is provided but please remember to wear flat shoes.

The two bowling greens in the park are used regularly by Greenhead Park Bowling Club and Huddersfield Croquet Club – more details below. Non-members are welcome to play bowls on the greens when they are not being used by the clubs.  You can borrow bowls free from the Friends of Greenhead Park on Wednesdays from 1pm to 2pm – and other times by arrangement.

IMPORTANT: The greens are only for bowls and croquet. Please don’t go on them for any other reason as you can damage the playing surface.

Greenhead Park Bowling Club play in the Huddersfield & District Veterans League. Matches are on Monday and Tuesday afternoons, with club competitions on Thursday afternoons.  New members of all ages are welcome – come along on a Thursday afternoon or contact Richard on 07813 738162.

Huddersfield Croquet Club use the lower green for matches and practice sessions on Tuesday & Thursday evenings and Saturday afternoons.  For more information contact Rena Souten on 07799 895350 or e-mail huddscroquetclub@gmail.com.
