Friends and Council celebrate park award

The national Green Flag Award scheme recognises and rewards the best green spaces in the country and sets a standard for parks and green spaces to aspire to. We are proud that Greenhead Park has won this prestigious award again this year. The park first received a Green Flag back in 2012, following its major restoration with the help of a Heritage Lottery grant, and has kept up the standard ever since. You can see our Green Flag proudly flying on the flagpole near the conservatory.

The assessor for this year’s award summed up his report by saying: ” Overall a great site and very enjoyable visit. Brilliant to see/hear the continuing improvement/evolution of the park. Despite its size and ongoing financial limitations, the site continues to provide a high level of quality. I look forward to visiting again soon. Keep up the fantastic work everyone!”

We would like to add our congratulations to Parks staff, councillors, members of the Friends of Greenhead Park and other volunteers who work so hard to keep our park attractive, clean and safe.
