As well as the regular weekly activities, there’s a variety of other events and attractions which vary from month to month. Outdoor events are weather permitting. Please note that some events need to be booked in advance.

Wednesday 3 April

2pm – 4pm Kirklees Libraries invite families to take part in a free story trail based on the heartwarming picture book Nala’s World: One Little Cat’s Quest for Love and Adventure. The book tells the true story of round-the-world cyclist Dean Nicholson and the resilient and adorable kitten that accompanied him on his incredible travels. Recommended for families with children up to age 8. Drop in between 2pm and 4pm at the Greenhead Park bandstand to pick up a trail sheet and start your search for illustrations round the park. Booking recommended.

Friday 5 April

10am Join up for free weekly Nordic walking sessions around the park starting at the Greenhead Park Pavilion by the bowling greens. Registration for new walkers is on the first Friday of every month at 10am,  with training provided for people new to Nordic walking. Once you’ve registered you can join the group any Friday morning at 10am – walking poles are available to borrow free of charge.

Friday 12 April

10am – 12noon Join S2R for a friendly Art In The Park session, followed by a cuppa and a chat in the Greenhead Park pavilion. No art skills are needed, just bring along something to draw on and with. It’s free but booking is essential – call 07933 358800 or email contact@s2r.org.uk.

Friday 26 April

12.30pm – 2.30pm  Informal Ukulele session in the Greenhead Park community room (in the cafe building opposite the tennis courts).  Visitors are welcome to come in and listen – or join in if you have a ukulele!

Sunday 28 April

2pm Croquet Charity competition, open to all, to raise funds for British Heart Foundation. £5 entry fee goes to BHF
