March 2023

As well as the regular weekly activities, there’s a variety of other events and attractions which vary from month to month. Outdoor events are weather permitting. Please note that some events need to be booked in advance.

Friday 3 March

10am Join up for free weekly Nordic walking sessions around the park starting at the Greenhead Park Pavilion by the bowling greens. Registration for new walkers is on the first Friday of every month at 10am,  with training provided for people new to Nordic walking. Once you’ve registered you can join the group any Friday morning at 10am – walking poles are available to borrow free of charge.

Friday 10 March

1.45 pm – 3.30pm Join S2R and the Friends of Greenhead Park for a breath of fresh air and an interesting and informative spring tree bud identification walk round the park. Enjoy a gentle walk whilst learning all about trees and how to recognise a tree species without looking at its leaves. It’s free, but places are limited so booking is required. For more information or to book, call 07933 358800 or email

Saturday 25 March

2pm  Friends of Greenhead Park Annual General Meeting in the Greenhead Park Community Room (in the cafe building by the tennis courts).  An illustrated presentation about what the Friends have been up to in 2022, and elections for the committee, will be followed by an open discussion with Park staff and local councillors about priorities for the coming year.  Members of the Friends can vote and stand for election to the Committee, but everyone is welcome to come along and join the discussion.  You can join the Friends for a one-off payment of £5.  New Committee members are always welcome, contact us if you’d like to know more about what’s involved.

Friday 31 March

10am – 12 noon  Informal Ukulele session in the Greenhead Park community room (in the cafe building opposite the tennis courts).  Visitors are welcome to come in and listen – or join in if you have a ukulele! The sessions will be held on the last Friday of the month up to Friday 25 August.
