As well as the regular weekly activities, there’s a variety of other events and attractions which vary from month to month. Outdoor events are weather permitting. Please note that some events need to be booked in advance.

Thursday 1 & Friday 2 September

5pm & 7.30pm Circus Zyair presents a colourful and action packed hour and a half show on the main field, with high energy acts from all over the world. Cost: £12.99 plus booking fee – you need to book online as tickets will not be on sale at the venue.  More shows on Saturday and Sunday – see below.

Saturday 3 September

8.15am & 9.45am Free 30 minute yoga sessions at the bandstand brought to you by Peaceful Remedies and Connect Yoga & Wellness. Bring a mat if you have one and wear loose clothing and layers. 11.15am – 12.15pm Pyjama Drama‘s monthly theatre club for 3-7 year olds in the Greenhead Park community room (in the cafe building opposite the tennis courts). Single tickets £6, or six for £30. Friday 9 September

2pm – 5pm Explore the history of our beautiful Victorian park at two free events organised by the Friends of Greenhead Park. First up is a display of old maps, photographs, postcards and other park memorabilia in the Greenhead Park community room (in the cafe building opposite the tennis courts) – with experts on hand to answer questions about the history of the park. You can drop in any time up to 5pm – and if you have any park photos or other park-related items, do bring them along!

6pm Take a walk in the park! Join local historian David Griffiths for an early evening guided walk visiting the park’s main features. The walk starts at the Trinity Street gates near the Park Lodge and will finish at around 7.15pm. No booking needed.

These events are part of the national Heritage Open Days celebration, England’s biggest festival of history and culture. As well as the national database, there’s a special brochure with details of all the events in Kirklees – hard copies are also available in libraries and other outlets.

Sunday 11 September

11am – 4pm Yorkshire Thoroughbred Car Club invite you to their free Classic Car Show – held in Greenhead Park for the first time for many years. Cars will be parked along the main drive and on the lower field, so why not stroll down and have a look!

Thursday 22 to Sunday 25 September

8pm Adventure Cinema returns to Greenhead Park with outdoor screenings on the main field. Tickets, which must be booked online, cost £14.50 plus booking fee (£9.50 for under 12s where appropriate). The films on offer are Elvis (Thursday), Dirty Dancing (Friday), Mamma Mia! (Saturday) and Pretty Woman (Sunday).
