As well as the regular weekly activities, there’s a variety of other events and attractions which vary from month to month. Outdoor events are weather permitting. Please note that some events need to be booked in advance.

Saturday 1 July

8.15am & 9.45am Everyone is welcome to join a free thirty minute yoga session by the bandstand, brought to you by Peaceful Remedies. Suitable for beginners – no need to book. Please bring a mat if you have one.

1pm – 5pm Enjoy free music from some fantastic Musica Kirklees groups on the Greenhead Park bandstand. There’s a varied line up, including brass & wind bands, strings and massed choirs – and a chance to join in a samba session too! Bring a folding chair or rug – and a picnic if you like – and enjoy a summer afternoon of music in our beautiful park. A collection on the day will help Musica Kirklees to support music making in Kirklees.

This concert is organised by the Friends of Greenhead Park and Musica Kirklees as part of the Kirklees Year of Music Bands in the Park programme which runs from Sunday 7th May – Monday 28th August, with over 30 concerts taking place across Kirklees.

Friday 7 July

10am Join up for free weekly Nordic walking sessions around the park starting at the Greenhead Park Pavilion by the bowling greens. Registration for new walkers is on the first Friday of every month at 10am,  with training provided for people new to Nordic walking. Once you’ve registered you can join the group any Friday morning at 10am – walking poles are available to borrow free of charge.

Saturday 8 July

12noon – 8pm ‘Keep the Vibe Alive’ at Huddersfield Carnival 2023. Soak up the free, fully immersive & lively Carnival atmosphere as
the parade of MAS Band dancers in full costume dance through the town centre with DJs on trucks, bringing the best Caribbean vibes right back to Greenhead Park, where you will be able to enjoy a day of music, headline performances, delicious foods, family fun, funfair, stalls, sound systems, fantastic Caribbean Festival experience and more. Sunday 9 July

12noon – 7pm Come on down to the Greenhead Park event field for Sangam Mela 2023. This great free event for all the family is filled with music, food, and stalls selling all sorts of Asian and non Asian items.

Saturday 15 July

2pm – 4pm Linthwaite Brass Band will be playing on the bandstand as part of the free Bands in the Park programme. There’ll be limited seating available – or bring your own folding chair or rug.

Friday 21 July

5pm – 8pm Family fun fair – pay per ride.

Saturday 22 July

12noon – 8pm American Civil War Society re-enactment event (12 noon to 7pm) and family fun fair.

Sunday 23 July

12noon – 7pm American Civil War Society re-enactment event (12noon to 5pm) and family fun fair.

12noon -3pm If you’d like to have a go at Crown Green bowling, why not come down to the bowling greens for a free taster session organised by Huddersfield Bowls Development. Qualified coaches will be on hand to show you the ropes and the sessions are open to people of all ages. All the equipment you need is provided, but please wear flat shoes. To pre-book a place at your preferred time, email huddbowls@gmail.com – or you can just turn up on the day!

2pm – 4pm Another free concert in this summer’s Bands in the Park programme, this time featuring Honley Silver Band. Come early to get a seat or bring your own folding chair or rug. Organised by the Friends of Greenhead Park.

Friday 28 July

10am – 12 noon  Informal Ukulele session in the Greenhead Park community room (in the cafe building opposite the tennis courts).  Visitors are welcome to come in and listen – or join in if you have a ukulele!

Sunday 30 July

2pm – 4pm Sundown Swing bring the summer season of free concerts on the Greenhead Park bandstand to a grand finale. The band’s popular swing music from the 1920s to 1950s will have your feet tapping – and maybe even get you dancing! There will be some seats available for early birds – or bring your own folding chair or rug.  Organised by the Friends of Greenhead Park as part of the Bands in the Park programme.
