As well as the regular weekly activities, there’s a variety of other events and attractions which vary from month to month. Outdoor events are weather permitting. Please note that some events need to be booked in advance.

Friday 1 September

10am Join up for free weekly Nordic walking sessions around the park starting at the Greenhead Park Pavilion by the bowling greens. Registration for new walkers is on the first Friday of every month at 10am,  with training provided for people new to Nordic walking. Once you’ve registered you can join the group any Friday morning at 10am – walking poles are available to borrow free of charge.

Saturday 2 September

8.15am & 9.45am Everyone is welcome to join a free thirty minute yoga session by the bandstand, brought to you by Peaceful Remedies. Suitable for beginners – no need to book. Please bring a mat if you have one.

Sunday 10 September

11am – 4pm We’re pleased to welcome the Yorkshire Thoroughbred Car Club’s free Classic Car Show to Greenhead Park again this year. It’s a real treat for classic car lovers with a wide range of beautifully presented vehicle on display. The cars will be parked along the main drive and on the lower field, so why not stroll down and have a look!

Wednesday 13 September

7.30pm Circus Zyair presents a colourful and action packed hour and a half show on the main field, with high energy acts from all over the world. Cost: £12.99 plus booking fee – you need to book online as tickets will not be on sale at the venue.  More shows on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday – see below.

Saturday 16 September

9.30am – 4pm Greenhead Park in Pictures, a display of old maps, photographs, postcards and other memorabilia, will take you through the Park’s fascinating story – and images of people, events and activities over the years may well bring back childhood memories too! Call in to see the display in the Greenhead Park pavilion by the bowling greens – and if you have any park photos or other park-related items, do bring them along! This free event is part of the national Heritage Open Days celebration, England’s biggest festival of history and culture. Kirklees HOD Committee has produced a brochure detailing all the Heritage Open Days events in Kirklees. Hard copies are also available to pick up in libraries and other local outlets.

Monday 18 September

10am – 12noon Join S2R and Friends of Greenhead Park for an Art In The Park session. Whether you are confident at drawing and painting or a beginner, sketching on location, in public can be nerve-wracking at first. But why not be inspired by the great outdoors, take a closer look at nature or just take some time out for yourself. Suitable for all ability levels, no art skill needed. Please bring something to draw on and with (e.g. a notebook and a pencil or your sketch books, pens and pastels). It’s free but booking is essential – call 07933 358800 or email contact@s2r.org.uk

Friday 29 September

10am – 12 noon  Informal Ukulele session in the Greenhead Park community room (in the cafe building opposite the tennis courts).  Visitors are welcome to come in and listen – or join in if you have a ukulele!

Friday 29 September to Sunday 1 October

7.30pm Adventure Cinema returns to Greenhead Park with outdoor screenings on the main field. Standard tickets, which must be booked online, cost £15.50 plus booking fee. The films on offer are Grease (Fri), The Greatest Showman (Sat) and Top Gun: Maverick (Sun).
